a double shooting leaves one person dead in san francisco's tenderloin neighborhood. the saturday night shoot-out led to a police foot chase, landing one man in custody. and the other dead on the pavement. kron 4's alecia reid has details. + >> and this entire block is getting bad. we have to do what we can to keep these in dealers out of here. and

>> i spoke with police to see why they cannot do more. they stated that they have made over 90 arrest on this corner. police have not yet decided whether or determine if it is gang related. >> >> the search continues for the suspects who shot a 30- year-old east palo alto man to death saturday afternoon. as kron four's philippe djegal reports. it's the city's sixth

friends of the victim, call him "luke." hed t on the sidewalk, where police say he was shot to death. while sitting in his car saturday afternoon. on the 400 block ofarpur drive. sot- sgt. jeff liu/east palo altode polic. throughout the day sunday. police passed through the area, looking for any clues as to why luke was murdered. sgt. jeff liu says the shooting happened in broad daylight. and, doesn't appear to be gang-related. sot- sgt. jeff liu/east palo alto police dept. neighbors dropping off flowers, candles and signing a t-shirt expressing their grief in "luke's" passing. this is the city's sixth homicide of the year. and, the first since the chief of police declared a crime emergency. following a stretch of shootings in late may. sot- sgt. jeff liu/east palo alto police dept. at this time, police don''t have any suspects. but say they're looking for a person of interest.

a man wearing a red hat and white shirt. last seen running towards a nearby park after the shooting. police say a dark green or gray car was also spotted leaving the area at the same time. in eas philippe djegal, kron four news. >> a 33 year old redwood city man was killed while trying to help out after a traffic accident in woodside. kron4's maureen kelly explains what happened. the chp says it all started just before 3a-m when a d- u-i driver clipped an s-u-v .while going southbound on 280 at woodside road. the suv then smashed into the center dividerleaving the three people inside with minor injuries. a good samaritianwho came across the crash scene while behidn the wheel of this silver jeep..pulled over to the right hand shoulder.apparently to see if he could lend a hand.it was while crossing the dark freeway on footthat he was struck by another vehicle.he was declared dead on the scene.his girlfriend apparently witnessing the fatal accident.was so emotionally tramatized that

she was transported along with the other three injuried victimsas a precaution. the freeway was closed for nearly 3 and a half hours.while the accident was investigated. the chp says they understand the good samaritan was just trying to help.but they say people who witness accidents on the freeway should stay in their cars.for their own safety. the driver who alledgely caused the first collisiona 25 year old vallejo man. has been booked into the san mateo county jail for felony d-u-i.and a passenger in his car was arrested for being drunk in public. the driver who hit and killed the good samaritan is cooperating with the investigationthe chp says it's unknown at this time if he'll face any charges. maureen kelly kron4 news. >> the royal baby is on the

way! royal officials say prince william's wife, kate, has been admitted to the hospital in the early stages of labor. kate arrived at saint mary's hospital in central london this morning with prince william. the duchess of cambridge, is expected to give birth in the private lindo wing of the hospital where princess diana gave birth to william and his younger brother, prince harry. the child will be the first for william and kate, who courtship. and here's a live look at st. mary's hospital in central london. >> the baby's upcoming arrival is heating up the market for memorabilia. people in britain are expected to spend more than 370-million dollars on things like cups and dolls.and you name it. and a lot of this stuff isn't cheap.pieces are going for $4oo.

uninsured californians are likely to get a knock on the door or a call from state officials to sign up for a health plan. the question is, just who are the "covered california" employees that will be asking for personal information from residents? sharokina sams reports. >> training for people who will get the word out to their communities about new health plans for uninsured californians. but - "we also need an ongoing monitoring system." the state's department of insurance says covered california doesn't have a plan to keep tabs on the people who will be collecting your personal information when they sign you up. >> "it's important that the enrollment counselors of covered california are subject to monitoring and oversight of their activities." >> covered california says it's doing checks before it hires enrollment counselors - which will come after a separate training in september. >> "we go through a background

a southern california wildfire has been burning out of control for a week now. but as kron 4's scott rates show us firefighters are getting the upper hand on the blaze. >> it has been a very challenging fire for them to fight. it has been burning since monday. i am told that the fire is 50 percent contained. yesterday it was only 25 percent. the firefighters have made some progress. some of the evaluations have been listed as some people are returning home. six homes have been destroyed because of this fire. firefighters and stated that they hope to have this contained within the next five days. firefighters are still

rafael bridge is looking good. in fact, all the green indicates that the speeds are over 50 mi. per hour. >> newly released video shows a u-s coast guard helicopter firing warning shots into the caribbean sea at a drug boat carrying millions worth of cocaine. the drugs were seized last week. 23 hundred pounds of cocaine made it to u-s soil -- but in the hands of coast guard crews instead of criminals. 35 million dollars worth of contraband was off-loaded on miami beach. the drugs. coming in from south america were seized when a coast guard airplane spotted the packages onboard a go-fast boat. 42 bales of cocaine were thrown overboard during the chase. four suspected smugglers arrested. >> marches and rallies continue as people call for justice for trayvon martin. but a different scene in

houston this weekend. a rally supporting george zimmerman sprang up. police were on-hand nearly every step of the way for both rallies. held on opposite sides of the same street. law enforcement stepped up their numbers out of concern that the protests could turn violent. several stores in the area closed early or didn't open at all over similar concerns of violence. even though tensions rose. the protests managed to remain peaceful. >> and dr. phil asks the question did the justice system fail? or was justice served? today at 4. dr. phil will talk to trayvon martin's parents and also with george zimmerman's best friend. >> the penalty phase re-trial for jodi arias won't likely start until september. arias was back in court earlier this week for a status hearing. she was convicted in may for the brutal killing of her ex-boyfriend. now, her lawyers are doing everything they can to try and keep her off death row. ted rowlands has the details.

he reportedly had turned up the music so his passengers couldn't hear him arguing with his estranged wife on the phone. this claim coming from the wife. this new information now raises questions about whether the driver was too distracted to react quickly enough to the limo fire. there were initial reports that the women were banging on the partition divider between them and the driver to get his attention after the back started filling up with smoke. >> a boater has been detained near sausalito after refusing a request to let law enforcement onto his boat. the coast guard station requested to board a 45-foot sailboat which had moored just off sausalito at about 4 yesterday afternoon. after refusing the request, the master of the vessel cut his mooring line and attempted to leave the bay, the master of the vessel remained uncooperative and a minor altercation ensued, but the boarding team detained the boater, o a boater was detained after refusing a

a man in texas is facing charges after police say he held several people captive in a houston home. here you can see a mugshot of walter renard jones. police say he's facing felony charges after they discovered four men, ranging from 50-to-80 years old, locked in a garage what was essentially a garage- turned-prison. and they may have been there for years. ed lavandera is in houston and has more. >> it is a bizarre story that the police are investigating. when the police arrived and looked inside they stated that they found four men who were held against their will. authorities say that it was for men from 50 to 80 years old that were mailed norris. authorities stated that they're still trying to find out what has exactly been going on. they want to know

how long they have been held here. they say it could have been possible lead months the they were held here. detectives stated they were lured here by some suspect who has been taken into custody. there were lord in the house stating that they were born to receive beer and cigarettes. >> when they arrived at the address that were not allowed to leave. they were kept in these conditions. >> houston police stated that they do have a suspect in custody but they're not releasing his name at this time because he has not been charged. there was a person being put in the back of a police car and detective stated that they do suspect that some of the men were stating that the social security checks were taken from them by the suspect.

kron4 will tran is live at the hospital where the victim is recovering at this hour. >> the victim was stabbed in his upper torso. he was taken here after he tried to flee. here is video of the scene that happened about 12:15 p.m.. this is of the 1600 block. according to investigators a woman walked up and demand notices her. they rushed and and if fight breaks out. he was stabbed, then someone called the police and they arrive within a couple minutes. they spotted one of the suspects walking out of the front gate and the suspect known as the police officers and he ran back into the home and tried to jump out of the back window and that is when he broke his leg. police are still searching for two people. at this

point they do not know what was taken but the victim and one of the suspects have gone let's bring injuries. the lininvestigators were out he that want to see whether not this man was targeted or whether or not he was just an easy to read. but as soon as i find out more all let you know. >> we are getting new details about the limo fire that was on the san mateo bridge that killed five people. this new report states that the limo driver at the time was distracted because he turned up the music and he was arguing with his estranged wife on the phone. this is coming from the wife and this new information is raising questions to whether or not he was able to react. though
